Planning and Prioritization.
Who wants to be my hero/heroine today?
I need to create a prioritization model for quarterly planning. I would like to be able to adjust a number let's say 90 becomes 5 and then I would want all the other numbers to change. Is there a formula for this? I tried indexing, but it locks your ability to change the number you can only drag and drop. Array doesn't seem to work for me. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi @ssuser01
Do you mind sharing some more information on what numbers would need to change based on your entry? If possible, share a screenshot of what you're looking for (with dummy data).

@AravindGP If I have a list of projects and I want to make Priority 9 into priority 2. I would like to change 9 into 2 and then have all the other numbers adjust automatically. So 2 would become 3 and 3 would be 4 etc.

Thanks for sharing that @ssuser01
From the looks of it, your priority rating is based on a formula. Usually, to change the priority, you would change the factors that contribute to the priority, and it changes automatically, due to the formula. It will also handle the subsequent changes to other projects (provided the formula is written that way)

@AravindGP my formula does not work, that is why I am asking the question on how do you create a formula to complete rankings. Do you know what a formula for rankings could be. I have used indexing, but it locks the fields and the array does not seem to work for me either. I am open to other formulas based on the example I have above.

Usually, you would prioritize and rank your priority for taking up a project based on the business impact, effort required, and cost. Do you have prioritization framework or matrix you follow. If you do, I can help with a formula. Here's a Smartsheet article that might help understand how priority matrix works -

@AravindGP for this moment in time, I solely need to know how to adjust just the priority field utilizing a prioritization function.

@ssuser01 If you don't have any other parameter to drive the ranking, I am afraid it will be manual. You can remove the formulas and keep the whole thing as manual entry.

Yes, I want it to be manual entry. However, I would like for when I change one number to result in the remaining numbers to adjusted. Is there a way for this to occur?
