Making a copy of several sheets, reports, and dashboards

I have a workspace which rolls up multiple project plans and RAID trackers, into reports and then into a dashboard at project and portfolio levels with varying data widgets. I want to use this overall as a project template however I am noticing that when I try to save as new or duplicate the folder structure and underlying sheets, reports, and dashboards, the links do not always remain between the sheets ⇒ reports ⇒ dashboards but instead keep the old source which I then need to point to the correct source. Does anyone have any experience or solutions to make this process more efficient. For those who are superusers, I have created a manual version of what Control Center does with automation.

I have similar setup and use the PMO Project Management Office template (with customizations). It works well for reporting a dashboard and reports for all projects in the various department folders. In my case, I only use one Project Office workspace which is linked to a Project Files workspace that has all of the department level projects. I don't have a need to create multiple Project Office dashboards.

Check to make sure Newly Created Sheets is checked when doing Save As.

  • Thanks, I did see that part but for Reports and Dashboards it does not offer that option.

If all reports and dashboards exist in a folder, then copying the folder will maintain the relationships of the reports and dashboards to the new folder. It's a different story if they don't exist in the same folder.

  • Thanks. Any recommendations if they do not exist in the same folder?

I'm not certain. I think there is something in Enterprise Version or Control Center that helps with updating across folders.

Making a copy of several sheets, reports, and dashboards

    Hi,

I hope you're well and safe!

As mentioned, save the folder, but it also works with a Workspace.

    Would that work/help?

    If not, can you elaborate?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic day!

@Daniel Miller PMP You can also "Save as New" an entire workspace so long as it does not have more than 100 assets (sheets, reports, and dashboards - folders/sub-folders don't count towards the limit but structure will be maintained).

  • Thanks all for the help! My Workspace has 10+ different folders (each for a dept). Each folder has a sheet (project plan), several reports, and a dashboard. Copying this dept folder works ok to maintain the all the report and dashboard links. My challenge is when I want to copy a portfolio reports and dashboard which exist in the workspace level. I cannot find a way to maintain that connect and it seems like I have to repoint all of the project plans and reports to the portfolio level reports and dashboard. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
