SmartSheet Merge of Cells - Need a good Workaround

We have a sheet that repeats information…in Excel we would Merge the Cells to give it a cleaner appearance. In Smartsheet, we understand we cannot merge cells.

We are interested if anyone has found a creative workaround?

Example attached shows RED boxes where we would like to merge cells.

You could create a formula to detect duplicates (i.e. an IF to check a box) and then use that as the logic (i.e. if checked…) for some conditional formatting to change the text to white (invisible).
