Why cannot I see Timeline items unless I chose how to group?

I want to show the timeline of my Gantt. However, I cannot get the events to come up unless i group in the timeline. I only have one dropdown in my project and I don't want to split items up in the timeline by this dropdown.

You don't have to group to see timeline. Perhaps your default zoom or date is way off of the timeline bars?

Double checked and neither my zoom or current date is way off. I also tried scrolling far in all directions, but nothing is showing so there is nowhere to scroll.

Not sure sorry. You don't have to group for timeline to work. See my screen below of a quick sample. If it's still not functioning at all then I'd try it on a completely different sheet and then see if you can figure out the difference if it works there.

Maybe post a screen of your data in Gantt view and what you're seeing in Timeline view?

This is what I see when I go to the timeline. I cannot scroll in either up/down or L/R which implies there is no content. The Gantt has tons of items during the months shown. I cannot share the Gantt because of the sensitive info on it.

Have you hit the Settings button and ensured that the timeline is using the Start and End date fields that you're expecting it to use? I also see you have a Filter turned on…check to ensure it's not filtering out the content that you expect by switching to Gantt and applying the same filter. When you apply the filter, check then to ensure that the filtered results have dates on them.

Thanks for your help! I check the settings for those fields and they are correct. The filter button is gray because the filter menu is on, but no filter is applied.
