WORKSPACE PANEL - Automatically open when going to a new sheet / report / dashboard

This panel seems to automatically be open when navigating to a new sheet / report / dashboard in the directory.

• Is this a change?
• Is there a way to deactivate that being open automatically?

I wanted to follow up and let you know that the issue with the workspace panel defaulting to open has been confirmed as resolved. You should no longer see the panel popping up each time.

The Workspace Panel opening each time a sheet is accessed was a feature enabled for organizations that have members of the Early Adopter's Program (EAP). 

While I don't have an ETA for you on this, this will be rolled back soon.

If you are an EAP member, please post any more feedback in the Private EAP Group so it can be surfaced to the relevant team.

@Genevieve P. Why are these updates being pushed out without giving the end-user the option to make certain settings default or not? I get the idea of having new options as Smartsheet evolves, but mandating that it's permanent, then retracting because of negative customer feedback goes to show that most of these updates are non conducive to the end-user's wanted experience.

I just tried to close the Workspace Panel / save/ refresh in order to permanently pin closed the Workspace Panel but it is still defaulting to open. This is the case for a colleague as well (as of this morning).

Has there been a delay in the rollback?

Thanks for reaching out. After the rollback, we did receive reports from some users still experiencing this issue. We've re-escalated it, and our engineering team is actively working on a fix. While we don’t have a specific ETA just yet, I’ll keep you posted once a full resolution is in place.

Hello All - this was resolved for several weeks but I noticed the panel auto-opening has returned today (10/30) - it feels like whatever was rolled back has been released again perhaps.
