Barcode scan gun into Smartsheet input line

Is scanning a bar code into a Smartsheet input line as simple as plugging the gun into the laptop, put the text cursor into the proper Smartsheet input line, and then pulling the trigger? Or does the input line have to be setup to accept barcode input? (I'm a total beginner with Smartsheets)

@AllanJohn, yes it is that simple. Once you plug in your Barcode scanner into your computer/laptop using smartsheets, when you scan a barcode with the handheld device it will input the code in numerical format into the cell that you have the cursor clicked inside. I have used this with Excel and Smarsheet, as well as JMP stat analysis and all worked without issue.
