How to Ensure First-Time Users Access Dashboards Seamlessly with SSO Enabled?

Answers

  • I'm wondering about this same issue - our first time users are confused when they are given a link to a dashboard, but then are asked to Sign in with different options when we have SSO already enabled via AD.

For people that haven't logged in with SSO before and don't need to access the Smartsheet enterprise system or workspace regularly, you can get a READ-ONLY link using "Publish". On the Dashboard page, select "File" - upper left corner, then "Publish". Follow the options to get to the URL.

If you have links within the dashboard that you want people to be able to use, that's an option when you Publish by getting the Read Only - Full link. If you select "Anyone with the link…" option when copying the link, this will likely work the best since the other options would require the user to be on the same plan (paid subscription?) or be shared to the sheet.
