Current User Filter Only Sometimes Working

Hello,

I have a default filter for a Smartsheet set to 'Current User'. This sheet requires a sign-in, and the column it's referring to lists only email addresses and is configured as a 'Contact List'.

There are times when this is working (certain users, and when I add my own email address to this column), but for other users it isn't working.

Can someone help me understand what's going wrong here? Thanks!

    Hello,

    For me this functionality worked always like 100% and when I was doing that for other users it works as well.

    Especially when we have tasks assigned to someone in one big sheet.

    are you 100% sure the proper email addresses are used for the column and people logging in?

    Can you provide some screenshots of people logged in not having access?

    I believe that the user also has editors or greater on the sheet. You might want to confirm.

  • Thank you both for helping me with this. Yes, I'm 100% sure the column is set up as a contact list and with the user's email. For example, when I substitute my email it works, and one user had the filter suddenly start working after it hadn't at first. I'm pulling the emails in as a column formula - could that be part of the answer?

    I also tested another user who had commenter access (which should work anyway) but when I changed it to editor access the issue remained.

    Let me know if you have any other thoughts on this!

    Did the person refresh after they were granted higher permissions?

    Also, when you share, do you share and edit the user view and filter when you share? At the bottom of the sharing page, there is a "Default View" then when you click to open it up, it asks you what view you want (Card, Calendar, Gantt, Grid) and if there is a filter you want to set, and for card view, what dropdown you want it to filter by.

  • Hi Michelle - yes to both of these as well. Maybe it's just something not working properly on the back end of Smartsheet?
