Thanksgiving Dinner

I have a colleague looking to demonstrate the power of Smartsheet for project management and task management. She is trying to create an example of the task management and predecessor functionality using a typical American Thanksgiving dinner. The issue is Start and end date are only able to be calculated in days from what I have found. I need a way to track in mins or hours. I also think this is helpful for managing a resources time constraints and should be part of the basic business license outside of the resource management add on. Maybe it is already and I simply cannot figure it out. Help appreciated.

    Hi @Bcupp24

Smartsheet only tracks time in days, so hours/minutes aren’t supported directly. You can add a custom column to input time in hours/minutes manually, but for more precise scheduling, Resource Management or another tool might be better.

@ChristianFinke thank you for the reply and this is something I suspected but wanted to ask in the community. Seems like this is missed opportunity considering project management does not always happen day by day. Also, with a program being a collection of projects sharing resources it also seems to be a miss.

@Bcupp24 I totally get it, and agree that it'd be a great feature! Time tracking down to hours/minutes would definitely be helpful for managing resources in more detail, especially for something like a Thanksgiving dinner setup or any project with tight timelines. For now, the Resource Management add-on is Smartsheet’s main option for more specific time tracking, but I agree—having this functionality in the core product would be a big plus.

If you need more ideas on workarounds, feel free to reach out!
