Make dropdown with multi select split into multiple rows

I have a list of Board Meetings with a column for who attends. Each meeting is one row. The board member column is a dropdown that allows for multiple board members to be selected. I need to track their expenses individually. Is there a way to pull them into another sheet with each board member on their own line? With multiple types of Board Meetings I may have to create different dropdowns for each meeting type so it may have to be something along the line of IF "John Smith" appears in any of these 12 columns then add him to this other sheet.

Sheet 1

I would also love it to then have info in the first three columns also populate on the second sheet.

Sheet 2

Thanks so much for any help you can offer!

To split multi-select dropdown values into individual rows on another sheet, use automation and formulas. Create a new sheet ("Sheet 2") with the same columns as "Sheet 1" and set up a workflow to copy rows from "Sheet 1" to "Sheet 2" when updated. Then, split the multi-select dropdown values into individual rows using an external tool like Excel or integrations like Zapier or Make. Replicate the "Meeting ID," "Board," and "Meeting Start Date" for each attendee in "Sheet 2," and add individual tracking columns like "Airfare Expenses" as needed.

    Hi,

I hope you're well and safe!

It's advanced but possible, and I've developed similar solutions for clients.

In short, we'd collect the row in another sheet, decipher it, check how many rows are needed and what information should populate them, and then copy them to the main sheet.

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic day!
