Timeline view is displaying multiple rows on the same timeline row
Hi,
I have a series of rows that in Gantt Chart view displays each row of the sheet in individual rows on the Gantt Chart, but when I flip to Timeline view, there are rows that seem to have multiple rows in the display. It looks as if Smartsheet is consolidating the rows to "fit" in specific rows like a puzzle.
How do I make sure each row of my sheet is its own row in timeline view?

Timeline view displays tasks differently to Gantt view. In timeline view, where tasks are subsequent, a task bar will be displayed on the same row as another task bar, which is why you’re seeing the view as you are - all task bars for “Hosting Services” are displayed within that group, and where tasks occur on the same date, they’re displayed on rows underneath, whereas when they occur after another task, they’re displayed on the same row.
Gantt view, on the other hand, will always keep tasks on the row they exist in the sheet.
However, you can customize timeline view in a number of ways, such as changing the grouping, changing the timescale you see, and selecting the overflow options (for example, I found that when I selected a different timescale and selected “Partial overflow”, task bars were displayed on separate rows even when the second task started after the first finished).
Take a look here for more information on timeline view: Track date-based work with timeline view - check out the last FAQ in particular for more information on the difference between Gantt and Timeline views.
Hope that helps!

@Georgie Thanks for the response and explanation. I had already tried changing the scale and the text overflow combinations. I've also tried grouping by other columns and grouping by 1 or 2 variable combinations.
The only way I was able to get each task in its own horizontal row on the timeline view was numbering each project and grouping by the number, but it adds SO much space between each row. Unfortunately, it seems this new view is not beneficial for our purposes. I hope Smartsheet make modifications to it from a Program and Portfolio perspective and not just a project task perspective. We were SO looking forward to this feature for our Executive meetings.
