Set dashboard logo in blueprint automatically using value in cell linking to URL?

Our City has 40+ departments which are treated like separate companies. They each have their own logos that they like to use on their dashboards.

I'd like to make it so that we can set the logo to a URL based upon their department name. That link would refer to a URL or even a file we have stored. EG. Sales would be www.ourcomnpany.com/saleslogo.png, Their department name would be named in blueprint by me during the creation process.

I'm trying to minimize user error without replicating my blueprint for each department, otherwise I have to update them all each time I need to make a change.

I'd also be very happy if they could just select their logo from a dropdown list and have it appear everywhere their logo is placed.

Can either of these be done? I have ALL the add-ins for Smartsheet and Enterprise commercial.

Thanks! -Neil

@NeilKY It's tricky but yes I think you can. I know you can put an image on a dashboard from a sheet IF you use the metric widget and set that widget as "stacked".
So here's what I would try:
1.) Build a basic 2 column sheet with the primary column being your 40 rows of depts. Column 1 is your images that would be inserted into the cell from a file such as onedrive or box etc.
2.) On your intake sheet do an image / logo cell that is an index(match()) formula to pull in the right image for the right dept.
3.) Send that as metadata to your project toolkit.
4.) Put that metric/image on the dashboard as a stacked metric.

No guarantees but some of this works independently. I'm curious myself to see if you can make it all come together! I will try this too as I have a use case for it as well.

Good idea! I will try it soon and let you know. I'm pretty busy for the next few days but I'll get it done.

Well, i gave it a shot and something must be over my head because I have no idea why or where it isn't working. Have you had any luck?

@NeilKY So I did some tests on this, this morning. As mentioned I wasn't sure about it all either, just pieces of it. So 1 and 2 above, don't work. Not sure what I was thinking, you cannot index(match()) or any other formula an image from one spot to another… only cell link.

So for the first part of this, it won't work. You're only choice is to either create a sheet with all the 40 logos as mentioned, but on your intake sheet you'll have to cell link the correct image to the intake sheet for each project.

For the second part it does work and I tested it. As long as the image on the intake sheet in either uploaded to the cell directly or from onedrive etc….. OR cell linked from another sheet like mentioned above, and you set that up as profile data (which also much be a cell link), it will flow to the project metadata. Then put that metadata cell on the dashboard as a metric… stacked and it will flow through.

Here's a screenshot of my intake, metadata and dashboard and you can see it does flow automatically… but the first step of the image into the intake is not automatic.

@NeilKY Oh… if you have data mesh you can do a cell link mesh from the first sheet to the second then the original plan would work and it would be fully automatic as long as you build the initial 40 row sheet. Tested this and it does work. The cell links are slow to update but they're there.
