Merging users/domain management
I am trying to merge two user accounts, for which Smartsheet forces you to register your domain. We are one group of several in our large university that use Smartsheet and we are all on the same domain but have separate Smartsheet plans/accounts. Our IT department is concerned that if my team registers the domain, it could impact other groups. Like what if after we register it, another group needs to merge users and register the domain as well but we've already "claimed" it? Does anyone know anything about this and can help us understand the possible repercussions? Thanks!

Hi @Sarah541,
A domain can be validated by multiple Smartsheet accounts, but can only be activated on one account at a time. The User Merge process, which is available for Enterprise accounts, requires domains to be validated but does not require them to be activated.
Therefore, multiple accounts at your university will be able to add and validate the same domains and, if they are Enterprise plans, they can then carry out the user merge process.
If one account activates a domain, such as for defining domain policies, that will prevent another account from being able to activate that same domain.
More information can be found here: Domain management.
Hope that helps!
