editing locked sheets

I have setup a workflow to lock a sheet after a certain date but wanted to know if there if i can have a approval workflow to update a locked sheet

An approval workflow should be able to update a locked row.

any ideas on how to trigger the request to update a locked sheet ?

can filling in a form trigger an approval request to inturn update a locked sheet ? Im not sure of how can i do that.
