Why is smarsheets adding Columns ?

So we have had this Automation set up for years now, when we toggle a dropdown to "Delivered" the row is moved to another sheet (we'll call that one "Delivered") so that row does not appear on our active sheet any longer.

has always worked well, suddenly on 01/15/25 every time smartsheets moves a row to the other sheet, it adds duplicate columns to the right of the original columns and is moving the data for those columns into the duplicated columns.

We run reports off the "delivered" sheet and those reports are not populating correctly since the data is not being properly populated.

I move the data and delete the duplicate columns but it just adds them again.

Any suggestions ?

This is a great question

The move action will first find exact matches in your destination sheet and then, if it cannot find the exact match, it will add the columns.

Have a look at your columns and make sure the spelling of the column headings are EXACTLY the same. This is case sensitive too, so you really want to make sure this is 100% the same.

If they are a 100% match, I would recommend creating a blank new sheet, and move your data to the new sheet instead. This will make sure your columns are 100% aligned. Copy and paste the other historic data into this new sheet.

Awesome, yes that was it, I had the # sign in both of the columns, remember renaming this column last week when I was trying to reference that column and thought the # might be causing an issue.
