Formula to capture count onto dashboard
I am attempting to create a chart on my dashboard that shows how many reports an individual has completed within the year. I created a new sheet, and use the =countif formula within the cell but keep getting an #UNPARSABLE error. I reference another sheet where the data lives, selecting the column where the assignee is listed (as the range) and the count of reports column (as the criterion). Curious on what I'm doing incorrectly.

@HAA Hello! I believe the problem you are encountering is that the COUNTIF formula uses the range (your assignee) and the value to identify what to count from the same range. It seems like you are trying to use the range from one column and the reports from another column which won't work. Please review the image below. I've provided how to use the COUNTIF function if each instance of your assignee is listed represents one report. I also provided an example of how to use the SUMIF formula if you could have more than one report for each instance of a person's name. Please let me know if you have any questions!
I hope this helps!
Regards,Brian

Are you able to provide a screenshot of the formula open in the sheet as if you are about to edit it?

The first range (1a) reads the "Assigned To" column and "# of completed swaps requests" reads range 2 on another sheet. Let's say I completed 15 requests, the formula won't give me an error but will count incorrectly @Brian Wilson DC @Paul Newcome

Can you provide screenshots of the source data as well as the [Primary Column] on the formula sheet? Seeing all of the data helps take some of the guesswork out of things.

@Paul Newcome I had to redact the names of the source data but basically these are the only 2 columns I need from the resource sheet. The Primary column of the sheet I'm creating to build the chart are just the names of my team members along with the dated columns 2024 and 2025. Hopefully this makes sense

What about a screenshot of the formula open in the sheet as if you are about to edit it similar to the screenshot below…
