Assigning a task without giving the user access to view the full sheet

Does anyone know how to assign a task to a specific user without giving them full access to the source sheet? Chatgpt leads you down a rabbit hole that does not allow the end user to edit from Reports. I need them to be able to update specific tasks on a project, but without giving them access to the full project source sheet (not even view). they need to only be able to see and update tasks assigned to them.

Hi @CMoore,

So ChatGPT did not tell you that Dynamic View would solve your issue? Even if you build reports / filters that will filter the data with "Current User" option the users if smart enough will get access to the remaining parts of the sheet so only Dynamic View can help here.

I've been attempting that, but keep getting and Sorry, an unknown error occurrred. Please try undoing the most recent action, and try again when attempting to publish every time I try dynamic view. I've deleted and re-added the pages, confirmed roles, and still having issues. I have an enterprise license and to my knowledge that shouldn't be the issue either.

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with Dynamic View - I’d recommend reaching out to Support so they can investigate what’s causing the error. 

However, you could use update requests to allow users who don’t have access to the sheet or report to make changes to the sheet. Take a look here for more information: Request updates with workflows.
