Hi,

Does anyone have experience in creating a master template in Smartsheet with many rows and columns of data that can be updated by multiple different people/teams through a 'Request Form' containing a subset of the data points?

In the attached example, there are 2 different rows with static data in columns A-I and dynamic data (numbers) in columns J-V. The 'Request Form' example is on the second tab.

The Asset Class in column E would determine what team can request updates to numbers in columns J-V of other rows with the same attribute (Asset Class).

When that team needs to make a change to a dynamic data point (number) I would like to have the ability for that team to use a 'Request Form' with a reduced number of columns that can be sent to a group of people for approval while also updating relevant columns in the master template.

For example, if the Request Form contained only 4 columns would it be possible for these columns when populated to link to and update numbers in the master template, eg column B of the form updates columns J & N on the Master Template for the specific row it's for based on the identifier in column A

I haven’t built a solution exactly like this, but it might be possible to accomplish what you're looking for using existing Smartsheet features.

Update Requests: You can gather information from specific rows in your sheet and allow users to update only certain fields.

Cross-Sheet References: You can link values from one sheet to another so they update automatically, or use INDEX/MATCH formulas to pull in data based on a unique identifier.

DataMesh (if available): This allows you to update specific cells based on a unique identifier, ensuring your master template reflects the latest updates.
