Cell character limit

I'm new to SmartSheet. I just imported a worksheet and the column headings in row 1 were truncated to 50 characters. I see that SmartSheet allows 4000 characters per cell. It won't let me go pass 50 characters. I have changed the cell to "Text" but still can't go pass 50 characters. Is there a limitation on imported worksheets?

Column headers cannot have more than 50 characters. They are not the same as cells within the sheet which have the 4,000 character limit.
