Selected cell blanks after 30 seconds.

When a cell is selected and no action is taken for 30 seconds, the cell enters edit mode and goes blank. If another cell is clicked after, the previous cell stay blank. Can this be turned off?

I can't remember exactly how to get to it, but I would suggest starting by looking for the caffeine setting on your computer. I had this same problem years ago, and it turned out that particular setting basically mimics you pressing the space bar so that the computer doesn't go into sleep mode.
