Limiting permissions based on domain

Hello,

We have some sheets that contain confidential information on them and would like to have them only accessible via two of our domains with all others being restricted. Is this possible?

I do not think there is a way to limit sharing sheets with domains only. You would need to create user groups (that consist only of the domain users).

@kowal is right in that it’s not possible to restrict the sharing of certain items to certain domains, so if you’re wanting to only restrict the sharing of several items, I’d recommend following @kowal’s suggestion and creating contact groups for the relevant users. 

However, if you’re on an Enterprise plan, it’s possible to Configure a safe sharing policy so that all items shared from your plan once the policy is enabled will be restricted to certain domains.

I am no expert… but what about creating a Dynamic View and only sharing it with specific domains? I am not sure if that option requires an enterprise plan or other criteria. Just brainstorming out loud. :) @kowal @Georgie Feel free to tell me that wouldn't work! XD

Hi @TBodine,

Yes, Dynamic View would be another option! This allows you to share sections of a sheet or report to users without sharing the entire source sheet/report, and as you’ve mentioned, you can share a view with specific domains. 

Dynamic View is available as an add-on for users on Business and Enterprise plans.
