Export to MS Project

Hi, I am having an issue where data exported to MS Project has issues with dates. Is there any fix for this, currently the Export function is useless. I have done a general search online and I see users have been struggling with this for years, with no apparent solution

Hi, 

I am trying to export a schedule built-in Smartsheet to MS Project to share with a customer. When I export and open the file as an XML, none of the dates are correct. All of the other information appear to be accurate except the Start and Finish Date

I am a bit confused; this does not answer my question and the thread you posted even shows the users continue to have the same issue

Hi @BpCivil!

After checking our documentation, it’s known that because Smartsheet and Microsoft Project have different functionalities, exported sheets may display differently in either application. In these cases, you might want to manually copy and paste the data using Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+C / Command+V (macOS) as an alternative. I’ve also seen workarounds suggested in other threads, such as:

• Exporting to Excel first and then importing into MS Project.
• Changing the Auto Schedule feature in Microsoft Project from auto to manual, which can sometimes resolve date-related issues.
