Automations to Update Rows in a Sheet

I have a large sheet with 400+ rows of data that must be reviewed by 20+ different people and provide feedback row by row. It is possible that each row will have feedback by each person, but very unlikely. My first choice for gathering this feedback is providing a form attached to the sheet that allows the person to fill in the Unique ID assigned to each row along with their feedback. It would allow the feedback to be attached to that specific row while not requiring they give feedback on every single row. I had sworn it was possible to then write an automation that would say if the Unique ID field matches the field that was given by the person in the form, then it would update the row. I cannot build an automation that does this and have tried in all different community forums and knowledge articles to find instructions for this and have not found any.

I have explored the weekly update request, but that solution will not work because I don't want to require they submit feedback for all 400+ rows, but rather they submit feedback on the rows they actually have feedback on. Majority of entries would end up being "no feedback."

My agency currently doesn't have Dynamics in our Smartsheet license, so that option isn't available to me. I looked into it and I think it might be able to do what I need, but don't have enough info to make the case to my supervisor.

Any help or advice about how to do this would be much appreciated!

A few other things that might be helpful context for suggestions:

  • I work in an IT team as a business analyst, needing input from our business stakeholders on the data fields we need in building a new grant management platform, which is why we have so many rows. 1 row per field
  • I have a primary sheet with all columns and rows available for us admins and then have two different reports to share out specific information to the two teams providing feedback. (They provide feedback on different elements and don't need to see all columns).
  • I currently have it set up with a column for each person to provide their feedback on that particular data field. We do not want them to make changes directly to the columns without the analysts reviewing and deciding if those changes are necessary, so we figured a general feedback column associated with the row would work best, but open to other suggestions.
