I have a formula that is 1,701 characters. Smartsheet will not allow me to add to the formula. Why?

We've created a Percentage column that pulls data from other sheets. I'm fairly new to Smartsheet so I'm still learning. Attached (I hope) is the formula we're using. This version works just fine. But, I need to add another activity and when I do, nothing happens; actually, it won't even let me finish adding the new line.
