Displaying Multiple Project Phases in One Gantt Chart Line

Hi Smartsheet Community,

I have a question regarding Gantt charts in Smartsheet. Currently, my Gantt chart displays a single bar for each project, representing the overall project start and end dates. However, I’d like to break down the project into more granular intervals and visually distinguish the different phases of each project.

I have a sheet with separate rows for different projects, and I want to display the progress of each project on a single line, with different colors for each phase (e.g., Planning, Procurement, Construction, etc.). Instead of just showing the overall project duration, I’d like to see multiple phases represented within one line of the Gantt chart.

Is there a way to achieve this in Smartsheet? I’m looking for a solution where I can show different stages or dates within the same row, each corresponding to a different project phase.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This is not possible in Smartsheet. Take a look through the "Product Ideas" tab at the top of this page to see if the idea has already been submitted. If it has, you can add your vote. @Paul Newcome is 100% correct that's not possible to show in Gantt chart two tasks at the same level however if you go to Timeline view and you are creative with grouping you can show them in one row: here those are grouped by assigned to:
