Why does a contact list show up as a Text_Number when called by python

I have a column that is Multiuser contact list , when i get it from python it comes back as this
Column ID: 717095194388356, Title: Responsible Engineer(s), Type: TEXT_NUMBER, options: []. i have a list of all the contacts i want to write to the options in multiple columns so i only have to manage one list of emails. i have saved it multiple times and even created a new column called Responsible Engineers which also shows up as a TEXT_NUMBER COLUMN. I am at a loss with this as other columns show up as contact_list columns.

Hi @Bryan Langley,
There’s a specific way to resolve this, which is explained in detail here: Leveling Up - Understanding Multi-contact and Multi-picklist Columns in the Smartsheet API.
I also found the following related Community threads which provide the solution:
In short, you’ll need to set the level in your query parameters, but this is explained fully in the above linked threads and article.
Hope that helps!
