How do I have a count of items on a report on my dashboard without a metrics sheet?

I have a dashboard that displays a few reports on it, with the list of items in those reports. At the top of my dashboard, I would like to simply have a count of how many items are in the reports listed below it. I currently have separate metrics sheet that calculates this, but I find that the count of items the metrics sheet is calculating is occationally off from the actual number of items listed on the reports.

There must be an easier way to simply show a count of the number of items that are displayed on a report, by linking directly to that report as opposed to an entirely separate metric sheet.

Please provide guidence on the easiest way to display this.

@Jeffers On the sheet that you are counting from. Do a summary. Then on your dashboard just do a summary report to show. that should resolve the issue for you.

What if I'm counting from multiple sheets? They very easily accumulate onto a single report, but is there a way to get a count from that report that they are listed in?
