Selected data cannot be charted - shouldn't be happening

I have a report that I want to use as a data source for a chart on a dashboard. The report has summaries and the required grouping so that the top-level row of data can be used for the chart.

Even though there clearly is numerical data for a chart to be created (see below), I am getting the error - "Selected data cannot be charted. Please select a new range."

Any ideas?

When I click OK, I get this…

    hi @Berto_DA,

yeah this is a big lack of functionality by Smartsheet alrady touched in previous posts by others but it's not possible to create charts based of totals :(

The only workaround is to create the sheet summary reports out of your sheets and read the data for chart from Sheet Summary report (not row report).

You can also find the post (or create one) in the New Product Idea section to push smartsheet to implement this change so the dashboard charts are created out of Totals.

    Hope this helps.
