Has Function

I'm struggling with the HAS Function. I think understand how it works, but I can't get the syntax right or something. Here it is:

I'm trying to count the number of times each of these Values is selected in a cross sheet reference. I'm using {EXP} as the column reference. I'm using the formula below in the table below, and it keeps returning 0. They are of course not all 0. I've played around with it and tried several versions, but can't make it work. Any help is appreciated!

=COUNTIF({EXP}, HAS({EXP}, [Primary Column]32))

Not sure if you need to use HAS. You could just use =Countif({EXP},[Primary Column]@row) and it should work the same.

HAS is for looking for a string of text within a larger text. This seems to be looking for exact matches.

I could be wrong, but it's been explained to me that Countif won't search for a specific value within a cell. It would count $1.00 if that was the only thing in the cell, but since some cells have more than one value it won't work. I did try it before posting and it came back all 0's also.

That's exactly why I'm using HAS. Countif will not work here.

The formula below could work for for you.

=COUNTIF({EXP}, Contains([Primary Column]@row,@cell)
