Action on task through email

Hi everyone.

I am new to smartsheet.I am doing a template set up for certain set of task,that need to be actioned by task owners.

I wanted to design to design tasks such a way that:

1.Once a task is triggered ,it should sent alert/request update to task owner and the owener should be able to take action through that alert email without being required to login.I have set up the workflow as "request an update". In test run it has worked for me.How ever i wanted to know in order to receive task and action through email,will the task owners require licence?

2.Other ask is once a task a complete ,the predecessor task should get trigger as ready to start and send alert to those task owners.For that i have set up predecessor task,but its not working automatically.

please help with these.

In answer to 1, the person receiving the request does not need a license, but they will need a Smartsheet account.

2. You would need some sort of helper toon the predecessor task identify that the other task is complete, for this to be automated. You could add an automated number field to a new column and then somewhere on a line to state which predecessor you want used in a formula, the the update request can be triggered from that.
