How do I create a pie chart from the data on my sheet? Assuming I need a formula?

I have a column with rows of dollar amounts called Grant Amount and a column with a drop down menu of three options called Scope of Work.

My goal is to create a pie chart on my dashboard showing what percentage of the total amount of dollars from the Grant Amount column is going toward the options chosen in the Scope of Work column.

I'm not sure the best way to go about this.

You don't need a formula to show percentage in a pie chart. It's one of the options in the dashboard widget. Make sure your columns are arranged such that the Scope of Work is to the LEFT of Grant Amount. Then in a dashboard, choose a chart widget and highlight your data range, if in a sheet, or use a report to specifically make the pie chart. I made the below chart with values only but the value label to the right is Percentage (%)

Thank you! My only problem now is that rather than combining the Scope of Work options that are the same together, it's putting them as separate. I'd like those totaled together.

Not sure if this is the solution that makes the most sense, but for now it works. I added the columns "Scope for Totals" and "Totals by Scope" on my sheet, then hid those since they don't make sense outside this widget. Then I created a report with those two columns and made the chart from there.
