Adding to a report

Hello! So - I am working on building dashboards for my company where we can track To Dos. goals, etc. I have made reports, added them to the dashboards, and connected the report widget back to the data source (data source being the report NOT the original sheet). My question is - is there a way for people to just add line items to a report, or is it only to the original sheet? I can check off "done" boxes on the report, but for some reason I cannot add new lines of data - and I wasn't sure if that was possible or not. Thanks!

A report shows only existing lines on the underlying sheet/s. So no - you can't add rows to a sheet using a report. Directly, that is: if you think creatively, there might be another way to meet that same need. Just as one example… a REPORT doesn't add a row to a sheet, but a FORM SUBMISSION does. So it could be possible for you to create a form - you could then put a link on your dashboard (with a Shortcut Widget), or embed the form directly on your dashboard (using Web Content Widget).

Good luck, whatever you decide to do to address this!
