Why does one Column keep getting hidden without me doing it

Have been using smartsheet for a number of years now.

All of a sudden one particular column keeps getting hidden. I keep unhiding it but then it is hidden again. Have saved it, refreshed it and logged out and back in again. Makes no difference.

We also always have one column frozen. I have also unfrozen this column a number of times but they also keep reverting. The column I am unfreezing is the one that keeps getting hidden.

When I check the logs it says my team members are hiding the column, however they do not have access to hide a column - the option is grayed out for them.

Any ideas what is going on here?

hi @Barney ,

maybe stupid question to ask but have you check the audit log to see if someone is hiding this column for you?

hi Kowal, thanks you for your question. Yes I did check the audit logs and it according to the log two of my team were hiding the column even though they don’t have permissions/access set to be able to do that and one of them wasn’t even at work on the day they were supposed to have hidden it.

I do not think that audit logs would lie about who is doing what on smartsheet. Thast's what audit logs are for :)

but if both of them are saying they did not do it the only thing you can do now is to completely remove them from accessing this sheet (not even view) and see if it will be hidden again.
