Unexpected confirmation email

One of our long time users, in fact, a former admin, got an email from Smartsheet today thanking him for signing up and asking him to confirm his email address. There isn't any reason for him to have received this, as he has been a user for years. He does not have an alternate email address either. Has anyone else seen this? Why would this occur? Will all our users have to reconfirm? And if so, why would it say "Thanks for signing up"?

@cnikkih Did you organization happen to transition to the USM or make a major account change? That's they only thing I can think of that could have triggered it.

We've made no changes and he is the only person who received it, so it seems weird to be specific to him. I will reach out eventually, just thought I'd try here first.
