Issues with Calendar view and hidden data

I have a calendar on my dashboard, and when primary entry for each row is selected it hides the data. I looked in the setting and I don't see a way to turn this interactivity off, any suggestions?

Also I can't seem to get a row of data to come back in full view. If I flip the view so primary is going horizontal across the top I can see the data, and it is still in the grid, but when primary is vertical on the left it has disappeared?

I am also getting a formatting issue, looks like a bug, where the week line is repeated twice and some info is partially hidden behind it, see screen grab.

When you configure your calendar to use the Primary Column for the display label, and that field is long or has formatting issues, Smartsheet might truncate or hide other fields in the card view.

Go to the Calendar App configuration screen:
1. Edit the Calendar view.
2. In the "Display Settings" section, look for the “Primary Display Field.”
3. Change the display field to another column (like "Project Name" or "Task Title") instead of the primary column.
Avoid using the Primary column unless it contains short, clean titles.

Thanks for your response but the primary column in this instance is a nice short title. Just a reference number XXX-NNNNNNN, therefore no title is longer than another.

I’m not sure I fully follow the issue just yet, and based on the information provided, I tested a similar setup but wasn’t able to reproduce the behavior you’re describing.

To try and better understand what’s going on, it would help to take a look at your full setup, specifically your Calendar App settings and the source sheet. If you're comfortable doing so, feel free to share screenshots (just be sure to blur or hide any sensitive data).

Hi Isaac,

To clarify there are two concurrent issues;

Firstly, the very first column which is displaying the primary info for each row is interactive, even when published via web content to a dashboard. If this tile is clicked on, the whole row of data becomes hidden, with a minimized coloured tile to click to bring the info back. I do not want this interactive feature to be available in my dashboard because I'm finding users are accidentally hiding data rows.

I read a thread somewhere else in the community that hiding the row causes the data to be deleted but I am not finding that to be true.

Secondly, as you see from the screen grab I provided the top row of data is partially overlapped by the calendar filter options, and for some reason the week header is displaying twice. I adjusted the zoom on the web browser which did fix it once, but it seems to be a recurring issue. This becomes are particular problem when a user inadvertently clicks on the primary tile and the row of data becomes hidden (first problem I describe), combined with it partially overlapping calendar options means there is no way to then unhide the row of data.

For the first issue regarding the primary column interactivity, after testing and checking internally, this behavior is currently expected. When a user clicks on the primary field tile in the Calendar View, it minimizes that event card, but this action only affects their individual view and doesn’t impact how others see the calendar. That said, I can see how it could lead to confusion when published in a dashboard. This sounds like a great opportunity to submit a feature enhancement. I’d recommend creating an Idea post in the Smartsheet Product Feedback and Ideas topic so other users can vote and share similar use cases.

As an alternative, you could consider adding a Rich Text widget to your dashboard to display a short alert or instruction, letting viewers know how this interaction works or advising them not to click the tile to avoid hiding data.

For the second issue (the overlapping calendar filters and duplicated week header), that does seem unexpected, and we weren’t able to reproduce it on our end. Since this might require deeper investigation, I’d suggest reaching out to our Support team with screenshots and as much detail as possible here: Smartsheet Support.
