Why are commas not showing up/staying when I type in my numbers

I am creating a sheet to track quantities. Every time I add a comma, it automatically deletes. I've tried adding ' to the beginning, but then it does not allow me to sum the numbers together. Help!

@paytontrickel you can change the "Thousands Format" option for the column using the toolbar at the top of the sheet to show commas in numbers.
