Issue with File Preview in File Library, getting error Couldn't preview file you may be offline

Dear Team,

I’ve recently encountered an issue while trying to preview a file in the File Library. The error message displayed is:

"Couldn't preview file — you may be offline or have limited connectivity. Try downloading instead."

The file in question is an Excel document with a size of only 60KB. While I am able to download and open it without any problems, having the preview functionality would be much more convenient.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Shashank

Currently, Smartsheet does not support the preview feature for Excel, Word, … files. However, it does support previewing PDFs, images, and other formats.

You may need to download the XLS file and open it outside of Smartsheet.

It looks like the update recently came in, as I was able to preview the excel files previously. it was working in the month of July and earlier.

I agree with the initial post that it is critically important to at least be able to preview the xlsx file. I am evaluating how/if we can roll out file library in a more meaningful way. If we have to download them someplace to just look at them, I might as well just set up file system in sharepoint and pull in links instead. Yes, it works well for PDF files but need other types to work as well.
