Hi Smartsheet community!
I'm Mark Pousee, and I’m working on a sheet for Powerhouse Express our online store specializing in smart home devices, kitchen appliances, and electrical accessories. We use Smartsheet to track inventory, orders, and supplier details, but I’d love to simplify tagging each row by product category automatically.
Right now, I manually tag each row as “Smart Home,” “Kitchen Appliance,” or “Electrical Gadget,” depending on what’s listed. It's getting tedious, especially during busy sales or when updating stock levels.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Playing with conditional column formulas (like IF([Product Type] = "Kitchen", "Kitchen", "Other")) works but gets messy when there are many categories.
- Using conditional formatting to visually highlight categories—but that’s only cosmetic and doesn’t help with actual tagging.
- Considering creating a dropdown list for “Product Type,” but worried about scaling and consistency.
Has anyone successfully used Automation or form rules to tag or categorize rows based on another column? Or maybe you’ve used Smartsheet integrations Zapier, Integromat, or API to push tags through automatically from order data or another source?
I’d love to hear any workflows, tips, or formulas you’ve found helpful for keeping product tagging clean and automated here in Smartsheet.
Thanks so much in advance for any advice!
