How to set up Dynamic View under new USM plan so users aren't shared to the source sheet

One of the "free" actions under the new User Subscription Model is the ability to view and edit dynamic views. I have always added users with a permission level when sharing the dynamic view but have read this isn't necessary. I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

In my Dynamic View in the Sharing tab, I add a user in the Shared User field and our business domain in the Shared Domain field. I do NOT add them to the source sheet. They can see the data in the report, but can't edit.

Yes I have configured all the fields in the Details Panel for what fields are editable and read-only.

Just to make sure I got all the details correct.

1️⃣ They can see the data in Dynamic View, but can't edit it, correct?

2️⃣ They are part of the domain and are also shared as an individual user, correct?

3️⃣ How is the Report that feeds the Dynamic View configured?

Yes
They are part of the domain and NOT shared to the source sheet, but in the Shared User field in the Sharing tab of the Dynamic View they are listed in that field.
Now sure how to answer how the report feeds the dynamic view. I clicked Dynamic View at the top of the source sheet/report with a filter for Current User. The user is in the appropriate field which is why they can View the data in Dynamic View - they just can't edit. I don't know how to get it so they can edit. Did that answer the question?
