SIMPLE Conditional Formatting is not Working

I have never had issues with conditional formatting, even when formulas were required. This one is simple, it is NO formulas, just based on the user's selection from a dropdown that appears in this sheet.

The first screenshot shows the column example. Most are declined here, and those should be highlighted ORANGE based on my CF. The second screenshot shows the rule I created.

I cannot understand why it does not work. Thanks in advance.

Did you set "Task Bar" to orange? I'd expect to see the background behind the "abcde" to be shaded. If so, you need to use the little paint-can control in conditional formatting to set the row shading. If that's not the issue, then perhaps flip your column to type Text and then flip back to dropdown… then true up all the values manually to ensure there's no data mismatch. Usually if something to all appearances is set up correctly but isn't performing as I expect, most times I can attribute it to an issue with the column type. (That shouldn't be the case in this situation, but technology sometimes doesn't …technologe. :) So starting at scratch is my troubleshooting go-to.)

click on the down arrow button on the left. Has this conditional format been enabled?

I often disable when I need a screen shot without conditional formats…send a screen shot to us of the selections under that arrow down button.

Make sure you pressed submit or save …whatever the exact name of the choice is to finish turning it on.
