Can a Dynamic View link open directly to a specific row of information?

Hello,

One of my users has been capturing our Dynamic View link (for a list of internal tool system change requests), and adding that link to an external system database so those users can click into Dynamic View if they need more detail.

The user is now asking if it is possible to create a row-specific link to Dynamic View, rather than having to open the entire view and then clicking a filter or sorting a column, to find the row they want to see.

If having having a row-specific link available is not an option do you have any workaround in mind that may be fewer clicks that sorting/scrolling through 1000's of rows ? Thank you!

Hi,

Could you use the Current User filter when setting up the DV and assign certain rows so they only see what is needed without creating an additional filter? Or do they need to see all AND have the option to filter?

Hmm, hadn't thought of that, but it is not a particular user (Contact) doing the search, it could be different people looking in Dynamic View.

The reference out to Dynamic View is from a change management system. The admins of that system add the link to Dynamic View, and include an ID number as text in that system now. Someone reviewing a request in their tracking system can then get more detail from the Smartsheet history our IT and Analysts have captured in Smartsheet. But they would like to remove the need for users to sort/scroll or filter in Dynamic View and provide a direct link if possible. We don't have a simple "Ctrl+F" in Dynamic View, like we used to when they were linked out to a Sheet and could use Ctrl+F to find anything in the Sheet. Navigating Dynamic View is getting push back from users less familiar with Dynamic View functionality.

I can do Ctrl+F in DV, but I'm the admin. Can others not?

Ctrl+F in Dynamic View will only find what is in the active screen/window. So if you have many rows, whatever is off the screen is not considered part of the find function. You can minimize your text to 5% (as small as it can get) so your find has a larger view of data, and then return to readable font size, and that sometimes works. But is a very clunky workaround that is still not guaranteed to catch your entire data set. Another feature request for Smartsheet…

That makes sense. Yes, there are so many things that need to be enhanced in the Dynamic View world! Sorry I don't have the resolution that will work for you.
