how can i overlap 2 tasks.

Hello, i've a question about 2 tasks.

Task 1 has for example 4 hours and should be on day 1 for example 6 january.
Task 2 has 30 hours and should be on start on 4 january and futher.

How can i manage that on 6 january task 2 has only 4 hours?
Now i got the message user is over-allocated because task 2 is planned on a full day.

What is the correct solution?

Assign Task 1 at 50% (or 4 hours) on Jan 6.

Assign Task 2 at 50% (or 4 hours) on Jan 6, plus whatever percent or hours are needed on other days.

Monitor for over-allocation warnings and use the Capacity View to check actual allocation.

How can i manage on the first day of task 2 the 4 hours?

@Ruud To have Task 2 only use 4 hours on the first day (Jan 6), you don’t need a formula, just adjust the allocation for that day. Here’s how you can do it:

1.) Option 1: Split Task 2 into two subtasks:
a.)One subtask with 4 hours assigned on Jan 6.
b.)The second subtask with the remaining 26 hours starting from Jan 7.

2.) Option 2: Set the allocation for Task 2 on Jan 6 to just 4 hours (or 50% if working in an 8-hour day). Assign the remaining hours to following days.

This controls the exact amount of work scheduled for that day and will prevent the overallocation warning. No formula is needed—just use the task allocation settings directly
