Writing Formulas in Smartsheet - Self Paced - Optional Activity

Hello,

I'm working through the writing formulas optional activity and in the 'Nested IF function - Progress Column' task it directs you to put in the following formula '=IF([% Complete]@row = 0, “Empty”)'. However, when I put this formula into the spreadsheet, '04a_Marketing Request Tracker - Formulas', I get an '#UNPARSEABLE' error. This is the exact formula that is in the exercise pdf, not one of my own creation so I would expect it to have been tested to ensure that it works.

To be honest I've encountered errors in all of the optional exercises I've done up to this point in my self-paced learning journey. As the exercises are increasing in complexity I would like to not quit on this one so would appreciate some support.

The issue is the quotes. See how yours are slanted but mine "are not"?

The slanted ones are called "Smart Quotes" which (ironically enough_ are not recognized as valid characters when writing formulas in Smartsheet.

You can retype them in the sheet or in a text editor (like Notepad / not Word) to get the correct type of quotes.

If the issue still persists even after fixing the quotes, make sure your column name in your formula matches the column name in the sheet exactly. You may have to open up the column properties to see if there are any hidden spaces tucked in. If you type multiple spaces in a row, only the first one will show, but the rest will be stored on the back-end and will throw off a match.
