I'm a newbie and have signed on.

I'm wanting to use smartsheet as proposed in the below youtube promotional video.

Has anyone worked out how to do this, I assume we could locate templates etc. But it seems like you need to be an expert in Smartsheet or pay for somone to set it all up?

Welcome to Smartsheet! There's so much to learn here, and I am learning more every day after just over one year of experience with it. I have been able to learn how to do amazing things in Smartsheet, but it's a lot at first, so it's helpful to break things down.

1. Templates: Solution Templates | Smartsheet
   1. You mentioned locating templates, so I've linked to some above. I don't see the exact "Change Management" template shown in that YouTube video, but you can use the search function to compare the available change management templates to see what might work best for you.
   2. That said, I found these templates to be overwhelming when I first started. I needed a better understanding of how Smartsheet worked before I was able to modify them and use them efficiently and effectively for our business.
2. Learning Smartsheet
   1. I used Smartsheet University to learn all of the basics, and I come to the community to expand upon that knowledge as I build my own tools. I highly recommend Smartsheet University, especially these two courses:
      1. Working in Smartsheet (I recommend this one for all users)
      2. Self-Paced Core App Learning Path (I recommend this one for anyone who will build Smartsheet solutions)

So yes, many of us have worked out how to do this through templates and other resources. I don't think you need to be an expert to use the templates, but it definitely helps to understand the basics so you know how and where to key in information and how those different sheets, reports, and dashboards all work together. And yes, you can pay for someone to set it all up for you (I would not be surprised if you get people offering those services in this thread, or you can check around online wherever experts are found), but in my opinion, if you don't have a solid grasp on the basics, then it might be hard for you to review and validate their work, and it might be difficult for you to continue to update and utilize the tool after it's been setup.

Take a look at that Working in Smartsheet training when you can. That's my top recommendation. It takes about an hour, and it'll give you a lot of good info. After that, grab a basic sheet (blank or from a template) and start to sketch out the things in your business that you want to track. You can use the training or videos to follow along, but the better you understand things, the better the tool will work for you, no matter what you're looking at.
