Certain settings get lost on copying sheets

Question

Hi all! While Control Center is not available in my organization, my solution is to mantain a Project Template (with its own sheets, reports, dashboards, etc.) that I copy to a new folder every time we have a new project.

Unfortunately I recently noticed that some settings, specifically Gannt Chart timeline options (timescale) do not carry so my Gantt widgets/sheets/reports timeline setting need to be manually updated after the copy. I don't remember having this issue in the past so wondering if it has been introduced in recent updates.

@Schweppes what you’re seeing is normal: Gantt/timeline zoom and timescale are not reliably preserved when you copy a template folder, because those settings behave more like a view/display preference than part of the sheet’s structural configuration. Smartsheet’s Gantt has discrete zoom levels (quarter/month/week/day) and related timeline display settings, and those are the ones that tend to “reset” after a copy.

Understood @amarkumar, thanks for the insights. It's interesting because I'd swear I didn't need to update those settings for other projects and just recently noticed this. Understanding those settings are view preference, they really help on standardizing the user experience when consuming the data (all Gantts and timelines show the same across your project portfolio); hence I feel they should carry with the rest of the structural config. I will submit this as a product enhancement.
