Update (Feb 11, 2026 at 1:40 PM PT): We have rolled back the US region deployment of the updated web login experience following reports of bugs and unintended behavior. To ensure a stable, consistent, and reliable login experience for everyone, we’ve reinstated the prior login experience for our US customers.

We plan to relaunch these changes once we’re confident all remaining issues have been fully addressed. Timing is still being determined, and we’ll share updated plans as soon as we have them finalized.

We’ve updated the Smartsheet web login experience to make signing in faster and more intuitive. The new flow highlights the right login method based on your organization’s configuration, reduces repeated credential entry, and helps users get to their work without unnecessary steps. Enterprise users get clearer SAML guidance, and returning users see their last-used method first for a quicker, more consistent experience.

As a licensed Smartsheet user, I’m disappointed that this update was rolled out without direct communication to existing users.

Arriving at a new login landing page with no prior warning feels like a potential security risk — unexpected changes to authentication flows can easily undermine user confidence and raise concerns about phishing or account safety.

It also creates additional, avoidable workload. Many of us have already produced guidance materials (including video walkthroughs) for our users on how to access Smartsheet, and this change now requires those resources to be updated and re-communicated.

For platform changes that affect login experience or user access, I’d strongly encourage proactive, direct communication to licensed users ahead of release, along with clear guidance on what’s changing and why.

My organization uses SSO. I just sent an invitation to a new user and he was asked to create a password. We don't want people using passwords. Could this update be the reason why?

Definitely a hassle if you have a lot of users to notify plus materials to update and you don't see early notifications. Do you receive regular email updates and communications from Smartsheet? I received at least two prior email notifications about this change, with the first in December and then a second in early January.

Please think about adding at least the SSO Button on the first screen!

Orgs using SSO typically have their login options reduced to either SSO only, or SSO / eMail, thus presenting a clean login experience to the users.

The new "experience" comes down to one more step before they can click on the SSO button. A step back regarding user experience.

Hello Julie,

For context, Smartsheet provided direct notice to end users at scale via an in-app banner that ran for a week, reading "Upcoming change: Smartsheet login is being updated for a clearer and more secure sign-in experience. Learn more". That link took users to a post explaining the nature of the change and that it was a Smartsheet-initiated, planned update.

Further, we provided direct, 45-day advanced notice for all system admins in multiple emails, explaining the changes were coming and linking to a post with more detail (and even a suggested email template for optional additional notice to your users beyond the banner).

Smartsheet understands that changes to login can prompt security concerns and other necessary actions for admins, and we remain committed to providing continued advanced notice before changes that will impact the user experience.

Please ensure you're noted in the system as an admin and that you receive email communications from Smartsheet, and you should receive these kinds of communications in the future.

No; Smartsheet uses email/password as one of our fallback options for when accounts are locked out. I believe on initial sign-in, they're asked to create a username/password for that reason — even if after that setup primary login will be SSO. Once they've set that up, if you use SSO, per this update, that will be the primary option displayed for login

Please note that this update is still rolling out across regions and has not been fully implemented. US launch has been delayed by a day as we remediate some edge-case issues, but should be live tomorrow.

the change has arrived today for me.
Alas, still I now need to first enter my email address before I can select SSO.
Before I had more or less options on the first screen and with just one click I could select SSO….

So for SSO users this added one more action to login.

We're seeing this as well, though not consistently. Some folks are able to immediately use SSO, while others see the prompt to enter their email. Even with a communication that login was being updated, this is causing confusion and frustration, particularly among executives where an extra click means you've lost them.

This has been quite a pain to navigate. I have dozens of accounts that I have access to as a consultant and switching between accounts is so many more clicks now. It also does not recognize any of the auto-fill data stored until after I enter the email address and need to enter the password. I have too many email addresses to be able to remember all of them.

Is there a way to revert back to the older method that required less clicks and had access to auto-fill data, or are there plans in the very near future to fix these issues?

Hi Paul,

Switching between accounts does require one more click in this new flow if you're logging in with email/Password-based login. This is expected because we are prioritizing SAML/SSO over password as recommended login methods to enhance our baseline of security. Username/password is the weakest login vector vendors can offer, so we'd encourage you to use one of our alternate sign in methods.
That said, you can certainly continue to use username/password if you wish, but it does take one additional click within the login process.
The new login experience does recognize/remember auto-fill data — you may need to reset or update those auto-fill settings, but the capability should work after that (at least, it does for my personal and testing accounts!)
