Automation Where One Row Changes Other Rows

Hello Smartsheet Community!

New admin here and I'm not sure if the answer to this question is simple or complex.  Basically, I want to build an automation that when a top level row in the hierarchy changes Status (column) to "Complete", I want other rows to update their Status as well.  My logic uses a hidden column Trigger, with value set to "1" on the rows I want to then update.

There's probably a better way to do this that actually works.  Any advice or direction is appreciated.

Without seeing your sheet for context, it sounds like you are going the right way with it using a formula to output some sort of trigger on the other rows for the automation.

There is no way to build into an automation directly to make it impact multiple rows from a single row trigger, so there needs to be the trigger on every row you want impacted.
