I would like to confirm whether the system supports rendering multiple date fields (approximately 5–6 date columns) from a dataset within a single row in the Gantt or Timeline visualisation. The requirement is to display several milestone dates—such as multiple Gate Review events—on the same horizontal timeline for each project. In essence, the goal is to produce a ‘Gantt‑of‑Gantts’ view where each row represents a project and plots multiple date‑based markers or segments derived from different columns.
As a business operating across multiple locations and brands within a regional reporting structure, we rely heavily on accurate, consolidated, and timely visibility of project milestones. Currently, we face significant limitations in the Gantt/Timeline view when attempting to visualize multiple key milestone dates within a single project row.
Our teams need to review all critical milestones—such as Gate Reviews and other project checkpoints—in a single snapshot, whether on a weekly or monthly basis. However, the existing capability only allows for one primary date range per row, preventing us from displaying 5–6 different milestone dates from multiple columns on one unified timeline.
This constraint makes it difficult to quickly identify:
- Task or milestone overloads across the organisation
- Resource bottlenecks at specific points in time
- Cross‑project milestone clustering or conflicts
- Overall readiness and alignment of different brands or locations
To bridge these gaps, we require a "Gantt‑of‑Gantts" style view—where each project appears as a single row, and all associated milestone dates are plotted along the same horizontal timeline. This would provide a true portfolio‑level snapshot.
While exporting to Excel and manually creating custom visualisations is technically possible, it is not viable for operational use. These reports are live, frequently updated, and require real‑time visibility. Export‑and‑format workflows introduce delays, versioning issues, and significant manual effort, which is unsuitable for KPI tracking and decision‑making across the organisation.
Implementing the ability to display multiple milestone dates per row directly in the Gantt/Timeline interface would greatly improve portfolio reporting, reduce manual work, and enable faster, more informed decisions at the regional and senior‑leadership levels.
