We receive data from externals which we then need to verify. Once it's verified we then email them back a PDF (that's been generated using 'generate document' feature) as it contains the crucial information that's been verified, and they can keep as a confirmation.
Currently, I use the message only format in an alert automation, as it's neat, which is sent to the verifier's email; they then forward that to the submitter, attaching the downloaded generated PDF. This is way too many clicks for something that could be quite simple.
If it's possible to have the 'add attachment' feature when using 'message only' automation, it would mean we could email the submitter directly as part of the automation (emailing the address in the email field). There wouldn't be any 'view in smartsheet' links (that really shouldn't go to an external) and there'd be no need for additional alerts, forwarding, downloading and attaching.
There seems to be a lot of discussion on this topic but not quite this specific idea, so am submitting as a new idea in the chance it'll be upvoted and developed. Am sure it'd be a game-changer for a lot of people!
