We’ve run into a limitation when using @mentions in Smartsheet Dynamic View comments . When a user is @mentioned from within a Dynamic View , the email notification they receive includes a link to the underlying source sheet, not the Dynamic View where the comment was made.
This can be confusing—especially for users who are intended to work only in Dynamic View or who don’t have (or shouldn’t request) access to the source sheet. Even though the comment originates in Dynamic View, the notification behavior is controlled at the sheet level and isn’t configurable.
At the moment, this makes @mentions risky to use in Dynamic View -heavy workflows. We’re exploring alternatives such as automation-based alerts or including record identifiers in comments, but I’m curious what other workarounds the community has found effective.
- Are you avoiding @mentions entirely in Dynamic View ?
- Have you replaced them with automations or helper columns?
- Any best practices to reduce user confusion?
Would love to learn how others are handling this.
